Speed reading software is especially designed for those people who reading capability is very poor or cannot understand the text while reading. Speed reading software can be a blessing to people a boon to anyone these people because it can really help in improving your reading speed and improving your reading comprehension.
What is Speed reading software? Speed reading software is an application program which is used for increasing the speed of reading any text or documents. The first speed reading software launched was Vortex Speed Reading software and Vallier, was its creator. But due to some problem he was unable to update it and it cannot be installed in Windows XP. There are many other similar programs also which are available on the Internet and these different programs also use the same techniques and methods which were used in Vallier’s Software.
If anyone will try these programs then they will find that there are many ways or methods through which this can be done. Out of all, the most common method is presenting world to the reader one at a time but in the same position. This method stops their eyes from moving around as they would on a normal paragraph. These presents the data in such a way that it looks like a serial stream, which is the only way the brain handles text, before parsing and interpreting it breaking it up into a serial stream. And here, the same work is done by speed reading software. It pre-processes and serializes the text, which is done by the brain.
There are many speed reading programs which primarily include watching the center of the screen while watching the lines around it expand. This method of using objects are criticized by many people and according to them, the only way to read faster is to read actual text not these objects.
One latest speed reading software works in a different way. It is designed to guide the user through the line of an on-screen book at certain speeds. In this book, some texts are highlighted and it indicates that whether the user have to read it or not. In this software, a rule is mentioned that the user is not expected to read the text by pronouncing words. The user is required to read them by viewing the words as images. The basic aim of this software is to eliminate the sub vocalization of the user which makes them enable to read at higher speed.
Speed reading techniques are very much similar to learning a foreign language. But it has been found that using these techniques is very much difficult for older people as compared with younger people. But these speeds reading software can give you benefits only when it will practice frequently. There are many people who have given up before mastering the technique. Speed reading is very important and beneficial quality. The biggest benefit of speed reading is that it gives anyone the ability to re-read information.
Our site is now running WordPress 2.7! Hooray!
Evelyn Wood is regarded by many to be the “pioneer of speed reading,” if there is such a thing. Of course, people had been speed reading before Evelyn Wood came along, and even now, many people learn how to speed read without hearing anything about Evelyn Wood. But, it’s worth learning something about her.
Evelyn Wood was the one to coin the term “speed reading“, and she helped develop one of the earliest speed reading books, called “Evelyn Wood Reading Dynamics”, published in 1959.
She spent 2 years touring around the world finding people who knew how to speed read, and she studied the tactics of all of them. She even managed to find some people who could read over 1500 words per minute – keep in mind that the average reading speed is 250 words per minute. Evelyn wood once wrote: “The purpose of reading is to get the information, feeling, and understanding the author is trying to convey.” If you’re able to grasp that from a text, then you’re taking in everything the author could ever want you to take in.
Although Evelyn Wood passed away in 1995, her speed reading program “Reading Dynamics” is still up and running. If I’m not mistaken, that program still teaches in a classroom-type environment. It might be difficult to schedule a lesson with them, but if you’re in the USA and you’ve got some free time, you might want to check it out!
There is also a program you can order online, but it’s preposterously expensive. There are different versions of it, but the cheapest one I found cost $199.95. (Not a good price!)
I really respect Evelyn Wood and what she’s done for the world. Her research gave a jumpstart to the credibility and to the popularity of speed reading all over the world. If it weren’t for her, this website might not exist!
So now you know some history on speed reading, and if anyone ever asks you who Evelyn Wood was, you’ll have the answer!
Speed reading is an extremely useful skill… It helps you read faster, read with a higher comprehension level, and it makes reading more fun. However, most people don’t know that, and they tend to regard speed reading as unimportant, or worse, they encourage people to “just read normally”. This is especially prevalent in schools. The repercussions of this attitude fall on the students: it means they have more work to do, they get lower grades, and they don’t appreciate education as much as they could. read more…

Reading speed tests are very important for people looking to improve their reading speed. A good test will tell you how fast you’re reading in terms of words per minute, and after the test, give you a little comprehension quiz, so that you can make sure that your test results were accurate.
Whenever you’re learning something new, it’s important to first gauge what level you’re at. This is true in memory training, in musical training, in weight training, and in many other areas as well. Right now, you might think you’re a slow reader, but you won’t know just how slow you are until you take the test.
You should always find out where you are before you decide where you want to go.
So, it’s of course important to test your reading speed before you start your journey of improvement. This serves not only as a measuring tool, but as encouragement!
If you know your regular speed is 200 words per minute, think of how great it’s going to feel when you read 600 words per minute. Think of how right now, you’re used to your reading speed. You’ve adapted to it. Your lifestyle has shaped itself around your reading speed.
Once you start improving, you’ll find that you can read more and more stuff. You’ll start reading twice as much as usual. It’s going to feel great. You may even end up with hours and hours of free time in your day. You’ll be wondering “How did I stay so stressed out for so long? …and why did I put up with it?” Click here to read more…
Learning how to speed read might be a little easier than you think! If you just compile a few tricks for improving your reading speed bit by bit, you will very soon double your reading speed.
Reading speed can be easily influenced – both positively and negatively. This article will show you a quick and easy way to positively influence your reading speed. It’s not only easy to do, it’s extremely powerful if you use it right.
Before you read something, preview it first. Go over the whole thing, and identify some keywords. Read a little bit of the beginning, and then read a little bit of the end. And only then, read the thing for real.
Always Preview Before You Read.
Just do that, and your reading speed will jump by at least 50 words per minute. Guaranteed. It’s really as simple as that.
You don’t have to spend very much time previewing – just a few seconds will be enough. All you have to do is find out generally what the author is going to talk about. In anything that’s reasonably well-written, there will be a clear introduction, and a clear conclusion. These usually summarize the important material from the article.
Exploit the summaries!
The reason this works so well is that it trains your eyes and primes your brain for the information that’s about to be taken in. When you do that, the reading process becomes much easier to handle.
That’s it! Try it out on the next thing you read, and you’ll be pleasantly surprised with the results.

Speed reading is a complex skill. There are many things that can contribute to your reading speed, and also many things that can contribute to your reading comprehension.
And so, achieving the highest possible speed AND comprehension is a pretty complex task.
Luckily, these days it’s pretty well understood how to speed read, and it can be learned without much difficulty.
One good way to approach learning speed reading is dividing it up into multiple elements. When you classify the big issue into multiple little issues, you can tackle it more easily.
For example, one essential part of “learning how to speed read” is employing intense focus and concentration. These two are extremely important for the successful execution of the skill.
If there is anything that CAN distract you from your reading, then it WILL. Distractions always end up reducing your reading speed as well as damaging your comprehension.
Even worse than that, though, is that those distractions can infiltrate your mind and make your brain branch out onto several unrelated topics. Everyone experiences this at some point: while “reading,” you catch yourself thinking about something else, and then you skip back to a part in the text you remember reading.
Obviously, this is a huge problem for anyone who wants to learn speed reading.
So consider this: when you sit down with a book or a newspaper or whatever, you’ve obviously got a reason for doing so. Whether you’re trying to learn how to do something new, or you’re absorbing some news or something, you’ve got a good reason for reading.
It doesn’t really matter what the reason is, specifically, as long as you have it clearly defined in your mind, this is going to work…
Place that reason firmly in your mind. This will prime your brain and motivate you to read. And while reading, try to think of nothing other than the content of the text. You have to be totally focused on what you read, otherwise your comprehension level will not nearly be as high as it could be.
This is a crucial maxim of fast reading.
So if you’re unable to focus properly on what you’re reading, just take a break! Try some other activity. Go do a crossword puzzle or something. If you focus on the distraction consciously, and then return to the text, you’ll find a renewed interest in the material.
So take a nice break every once in a while – it will prepare your mind to focus again on the text.
Also, try resting at the end of each chapter. Then, you get a chance to really think about what you read, and maybe you’ll want to take some notes, to make sure you remember the stuff.
Taking notes is actually another Key to speed reading. I don’t want to cover it in detail here, but note-taking can drastically improve comprehension – even if you never look at the notes again.
After a couple minutes of thinking and/or note-taking, you will be even more inclined to continue reading than you would have been if you had kept reading all the way through.
Reading straight through a book does have the “benefit of the flow”, but some rest-time between segments will drastically ameliorate your comprehension level. After all, the author in all likelihood didn’t write the entire text in one session! A lot of time and thought goes into writing books. You should your books much in the same way the writers would treat them: they take serious thought, dedication, and focus.

There are people that know how to read at over 1000 words per minute, and they can retain more of what they read than most slow readers. With a speed like that, almost everyone else can be classified as a slow reader. The average reading speed is 250 words-per-minute. For the 1000wpm readers to have a higher comprehension level doesn’t even seem possible.
What’s really happening is this: when you read faster, information comes into your head faster. When more information is coming at you, it’s less likely you will become bored. The more interested you are, the more you will absorb. Thus, reading faster makes you comprehend more.
So the question is this: how can you speed read? How does speed reading work?
Speed reading has to do with eliminating sub-vocalisation. Sub-vocalisation is also known as “silent speech”. It can be defined as internal speech, which takes place during reading. Sub-vocalisation allows the reader to “hear” the words as they are being read. Removing this process allows for much faster reading.
Moving away from sub-vocalisation, makes room for a more visual approach to reading. When you read without sub-vocalising, you are no longer held by the 250 words-per-minute barrier set up by sub-vocalisation.

It is more efficient to perceive the words solely as visual information. The goal of speed reading is to control your use of auditory associations while taking in words.
Then you can start reading words not as a series of sounds, but as images. You already know most of the
words you will encounter while reading. It isn’t necessary to hear the words as well as see them; just by looking at the word, you can know what it means.
The concept is very simple, but the method is hard to master. Try reading the Speed Reading Manual, or the Speed Reading Newsletter. Both of those resources are available through this website. Check them out now!
