On this site, we have a weekly speed reading technique that will automatically improve your reading speed by a minimum of 10wpm.

That means for every 10 minutes you spend reading, you will have read 100 more words than anyone else. Imagine what that will do for you in the long run… Every single little improvement to your reading ability can make a big difference!

It’s very easy, very simple, and it only takes a minute to learn. So let’s get at it!

You should always try to scan the material before you start reading it. Skimming will prime your mind for the stuff that’s about to be found in the text. In other words, you’re trying to find keywords.

If you can find the keywords that will be used, then you’ve already begun the process of comprehension. Comprehending that first 4% of the material before you even begin reading gets you in a pretty good position, don’t you think?

That’s it for today. Just use that one easy-to-use technique, and you will effortlessly raise your reading rate by 10 or more WPM.

Check back next week for another tip in the series. For now, though, try to practice today’s lesson!

Here’s our weekly speed reading tip that will help you effortlessly improve your reading by about 10 words per minute (WPM).

That means every minute you spend reading, you’ll read 10 more words than you normally would. Just consider how much time that will save you over a longer period of time… Every single little improvement to your reading ability will help out a lot.

This is hands-down one of the easiest speed reading techniques you could ever use, and it only takes a second to teach. So here we go…

You should always skim through your material just after reading it. Skimming will seal in your mind what you just encountered in the text. In other words, you’re trying to find the keywords for a second time.

If you find out what keywords were most important to the author, then you’re going the extra mile in the process of comprehension. Comprehending even just 2% more of the material after reading it gets you in a pretty good position!

There you go. Just use that one easy-to-use technique, and you’ll automatically raise your reading speed by 10 or moreWPM.

I’ll see you next time for the next trick. Right now, though, try to practice scanning after reading.

This article will show you a speed reading technique that will effortlessly improve your reading ability by 10 words per minute.

That means every 10 minutes, you will read 100 more words than you normally would. Just think about the amount of time that will save you in the long run… No matter how small, every little improvement makes a big difference!

This is a very straight-forward technique, so you’ll have no problem implementing it. Here we go!

Try highlighting parts of the text as you read. This will improve your comprehension Don’t highlight everything; just the most important stuff. You’ll usually find one important thing per paragraph. That’s what you should highlight.

The best way to think about it is that you should highlight the most important 10% of the material. You’ll usually find that the cold hard facts account for about 10% of the material. Ninety percent of the material is devoted to explaining the facts in extra detail, and showing how it is all relevant to the material as a whole. You obviously still need to read and understand 100% of the text, but the simple act of highlighting that special 10% will give you a huge improvement to your understanding overall.

The higher your comprehension, the higher your reading speed will reach. The more comfortable you are with the text, the faster you’ll be able to read it. It’s that simple.

If you follow this simple trick – highlight the important parts of the text while reading – your rate will jump by approximately 10 WPM right away. Guaranteed.

Here’s a free application for you to use to increase your reading speed! It’s called Flash Reading, and it’s an excerpt from the new software we’re working on.

This application will flash words on the screen at a speed of your choice. Sit back, relax, and let the words come to you! You can even adjust the Chunk Size, so that you can practice reading multiple words at a time.

The application is very easy to use. Just paste in the text you would like to read, click the continue button, and you’re ready to go! If you can’t think of anything to read, try looking in Wikipedia for an article!

In the main screen of the application, you’ll find sliders to adjust the Words Per Minute speed, the Chunk Size, and the Font Size. Use the Play/Pause button for when you want to start or pause, and use the Stop button to start over.

The main purpose of this application is to help you read at a speed high enough that subvocalization is rendered impossible. When words flash at a certain speed, each following word will come before the completion of the subvocalization of the previous word, resulting in a sort-of “assisted speed reading”, in the sense that subvocalization is forced to be absent.

So push yourself to the max, and see how fast you can go!

The full version of this software is scheduled to launch on July 30th. Look forward to more updates and free demos in the coming days!

Update: Due to the tremendous popularity of the tool, there is now a full page on the website dedicated to Flash Reading. Click here to go there now!

Speed reading is a process where concentration and focus are extremely important. If you want to improve your reading speed and comprehension, and eventually learn how to speed read, you’ll need to use these 3 concentration tips.

1. Remove Distractions

Any distraction at all can reduce your reading speed as well as your reading comprehension. Worse, that distraction can get you thinking about other things, and your focus will quickly drift away from what you are reading, onto something irrelevant.

2. Give Yourself a Reason to Read, and Develop Genuine Interest

When you sit down to read something, you’ve obviously got a reason. Stick that reason firmly in your mind, and think of nothing other than the content of the book. You have to be interested and invested in what you’re reading. Otherwise, the reading itself will hold less value.

If you’re unable to develop a genuine interest in what you’re reading, you should take a break and try some other activity. This will prepare your mind to focus again on the text.

3. Rest Periodically.

Try stopping at the end of each chapter for a rest. Then, you get a chance to really think about the text, and maybe take some notes. When you come back to the text, you will be even more prepared than you would be if you had kept reading straight through.

Reading straight through a book does have the “benefit of the flow”, but some rest-time between sections will drastically improve comprehension. After all, the writer probably did not write the whole book in one sitting! A lot of time and research goes into writing books – you should treat them that way.

So remember: remove all distractions, give yourself a reason to read what you’re reading, and take breaks occasionally too. These 3 tips will drastically improve your concentration while reading.

Tips like these and many more can be found in the Speed Reading Manual. Learn how to speed read today!

No matter what you’re learning, using specific tried-and-true techniques is the fastest and most effective way to accelerate the learning process. When it comes to speed reading, this is especially true – if you try to learn speed reading without really knowing what you’re doing, it just won’t work. You might be able to increase your reading speed, but not without harming your comprehension.

Luckily, many websites out there on the internet (like this one!) provide some pretty good advice. One simple technique that is widely recommended is “reading with your hand”. When you guide your eye movement with your hand, you can make sure it’s a smooth motion, which helps comprehension. Also, using this method you can control your reading speed very closely, enabling you to always push yourself to your limit while reading.

Another good tip – a more advanced one – is to read “blocks of words” at a time. What we have learnt from our younger days is to read words individually, sounding out each syllable silently in our mind. If you want to read quickly, you don’t have time to sound anything out. So instead of reading words individually, try to read words in “blocks” – that is, three or four words at a time. Of course, it takes a bit of practice to make this work properly, but once you put the time into practicing it and mastering it, it will pay off tremendously.

Another good free tip you’ll find is to prioritize your reading material. You should learn to separate reading material into different sections, such as “very important”, “moderately important”, and “of little importance. It doesn’t really matter which part you read first – the point is that you have a loose understanding of what’s described in each section. As long as you have that, you’ll be able to devote the appropriate resources to each section of the reading material depending on that section’s importance.

Anyone can use these methods to improve their reading speed. All you have to do is practice up! Browse around this website, and you’ll find plenty more tips. If you want a real head start, though, I recommend you check out the Speed Reading Manual. That Manual has everything you need to start speed reading right away – if you apply the techniques, you can expect to double your reading speed within an hour. And your comprehension will improve too! Learning how to speed read has never been easier than this.

This is an article is about speed reading software. It is about, how speed reading software helps in improving reading speed.

Speed reading software is especially designed for those people who reading capability is very poor or cannot understand the text while reading. Speed reading software can be a blessing to people a boon to anyone these people because it can really help in improving your reading speed and improving your reading comprehension.

What is Speed reading software? Speed reading software is an application program which is used for increasing the speed of reading any text or documents. The first speed reading software launched was Vortex Speed Reading software and Vallier, was its creator. But due to some problem he was unable to update it and it cannot be installed in Windows XP. There are many other similar programs also which are available on the Internet and these different programs also use the same techniques and methods which were used in Vallier’s Software.

If anyone will try these programs then they will find that there are many ways or methods through which this can be done. Out of all, the most common method is presenting world to the reader one at a time but in the same position. This method stops their eyes from moving around as they would on a normal paragraph. These presents the data in such a way that it looks like a serial stream, which is the only way the brain handles text, before parsing and interpreting it breaking it up into a serial stream. And here, the same work is done by speed reading software. It pre-processes and serializes the text, which is done by the brain.

There are many speed reading programs which primarily include watching the center of the screen while watching the lines around it expand. This method of using objects are criticized by many people and according to them, the only way to read faster is to read actual text not these objects.

One latest speed reading software works in a different way. It is designed to guide the user through the line of an on-screen book at certain speeds. In this book, some texts are highlighted and it indicates that whether the user have to read it or not. In this software, a rule is mentioned that the user is not expected to read the text by pronouncing words. The user is required to read them by viewing the words as images. The basic aim of this software is to eliminate the sub vocalization of the user which makes them enable to read at higher speed.

Speed reading techniques are very much similar to learning a foreign language. But it has been found that using these techniques is very much difficult for older people as compared with younger people. But these speeds reading software can give you benefits only when it will practice frequently. There are many people who have given up before mastering the technique. Speed reading is very important and beneficial quality. The biggest benefit of speed reading is that it gives anyone the ability to re-read information.

Reading speed tests are very important for people looking to improve their reading speed. A good test will tell you how fast you’re reading in terms of words per minute, and after the test, give you a little comprehension quiz, so that you can make sure that your test results were accurate.

Whenever you’re learning something new, it’s important to first gauge what level you’re at. This is true in memory training, in musical training, in weight training, and in many other areas as well. Right now, you might think you’re a slow reader, but you won’t know just how slow you are until you take the test.

You should always find out where you are before you decide where you want to go.

So, it’s of course important to test your reading speed before you start your journey of improvement. This serves not only as a measuring tool, but as encouragement!

If you know your regular speed is 200 words per minute, think of how great it’s going to feel when you read 600 words per minute. Think of how right now, you’re used to your reading speed. You’ve adapted to it. Your lifestyle has shaped itself around your reading speed.

Once you start improving, you’ll find that you can read more and more stuff. You’ll start reading twice as much as usual. It’s going to feel great. You may even end up with hours and hours of free time in your day. You’ll be wondering “How did I stay so stressed out for so long? …and why did I put up with it?”

A reading speed test is very simple to design. If you want to set it up on your own, here’s what to do:

NECESSARY THINGS:

Text you’ve never seen (1 or 2 pages)

Working stopwatch

Relaxed self

PREPARATION:

Get comfortable in your seat, holding the text on your lap. Don’t look at it yet!

Make sure the stopwatch is at 0.0

THE TEST:

Ready, set, go! Start the stopwatch and begin reading.

But it’s not really a race. You should read at your regular speed. Read like you always do. If you don’t read at a comfortable pace, you won’t pass the comprehension test anyway!

When you’re done reading, check how much time it took you. Then, count how many words there were in the text. (This is why it’s not good to read more than 2 pages…)

Reading speed is measured in words per minute (WPM). To get your WPM speed, divide the amount of words you read by the amount of time you spent.

If you spent 3 and a half minutes reading 2 pages, it might look like this:

886 words / 3.5 minutes = 253 words per minute

Once you do that, you have your WPM speed. But don’t get too excited yet, because you still need to do a comprehension test.

Hand the text over to someone you know (and trust!), and get them to quiz you on the content of the article. Or, you can just try explaining it out loud. If you can’t do this well, your comprehension level isn’t high enough. That means that the test over-stated your actual reading speed.

If you pass the test, then congratulations! You now have a measurement of your reading speed. That’s a big step towards improving your reading skills.

After all, if you don’t know how fast you’re reading right now, how do you know how much you can expect to improve? It could very well be that you’re in the position where you could quadruple your reading speed, instead of just doubling or tripling.

Wouldn’t it be nice to know that kind of thing before you start? Then, after some training, you can test yourself again, and see how much you’ve improved.

Now, I realize this can be a little difficult (or at least time consuming) to set up for yourself. Nobody likes counting words, anyway! And, I can even hear many of you saying “But Stephen! I don’t have a stopwatch!”

That’s why there’s a Reading Speed Test on this website. The words are counted, the stopwatch can be started and stopped with buttons on the page, and the article is about speed reading, too!

Just press the Start button when you start reading, and press the Stop button when you’re done, and it will calculate your words per minute speed automatically. And, there’s a Comprehension Test already made too, so that you can make sure you understood the article.

And, also worth noting, there is some analysis of possible reasons for your current reading speed (depending on the WPM from the test), which is useful for pinpointing areas for improvement.

Do the Reading Speed Test now!
